Drifting people

It’s crazy how much our lives change from one year to the next… When I look back on where I was 1, 2, even 5 years ago from today via Timehop, I am constantly amazed at where I thought my life was heading at that time.

It's FunnyIt’s kind of crazy how our lives can change so quickly, but I guess it makes sense because who we are is constantly changing. People are funny that way.

People drift in and out of our lives so quickly that sometimes years can pass and you can still feel them in your heart… Or you can feel the same pang of defeat over and over each time you hear something and look over your shoulder searching to share the moment with them and in turn only face silence.

I believe there is a reason that some people leave our lives, some people are not crucial characters in our stories. There are people who are only there briefly to get you through a tough time, or are there to put you in the difficult situation in the first place. There are some who understand that sometimes people just need a helping hand, and then there are others who push you down in order to raise themselves up. I think these people need your for their own story, but you don’t need them in yours, I think we’re supposed to let these people go.

It’s important to remember that you are the lead character of your own story and that if people are making you miserable, it’s time to make a stand. Stop holding on to people who don’t exist anymore; people change – you’ve changed.

I know it can be hard because sometimes we don’t get to call the shots on who sticks around anymore, but just remember that the people who are still standing by your side today are there for a reason.

It’s funny how sometimes goodnight can also mean goodbye…

  1. A few years ago I made a timeline going back all the way to year 2000. Then I populated each year up until now with where I was living, working, doing, dating (if even). Since completion I have gone back to it a million times to see what I was doing, or to double check if the year I thought I was working or living somewhere was correct. It was fun to make and awesome to go back and read every now and again. Cool app – each year I download all the pics off my phone and put them on an external hard drive – its a blast going back through those too.
